The Treatment
Reiki can be given hands-on or distant. A hands-on Reiki
treatment is usually given with the recipient lying down, fully clothed, on a massage
table. The practitioner then gently places their hands on the person's body, in a
sequence of hand-positions. The session usually takes about an hour and a half.
Recipients may experience warmth, cold, tingling or buzzing sensations and may fall into
a light sleep. It is the person being treated that is drawing the Reiki
through the practitioner from the Universal Source to where they need it most. At some
'cellular' level the body knows exactly what to do with this energy. During the treatment
blocked energies are released, cleansing the recipient of toxins and working to return
them to a state of balance.
